With the rising cost of living, Australians are becoming more strategic in their travel decisions, ensuring their budgets stretch further. The report highlights key trends in travel behavior:

  • 51 percent will maintain their domestic travel frequency at the same level as last year

  • 34 percent plan to take more domestic trips in 2025

  • 43 percent will continue their usual international travel habits

  • 34 percent intend to increase their international travel this year


Maximizing Reward Programs and Off-Peak Travel

A growing number of Australians are turning to travel rewards and loyalty programs to reduce costs and enhance their experiences.


The report found that:

  • 44 percent of Australians will use reward points for flights, hotels, and upgrades

  • Millennials and Generation Z travelers are leading the shift, linking their credit cards to streaming services (20 percent) and dining partners (18 percent) to accumulate points more efficiently

  • 84 percent of travelers will avoid peak school holiday periods to take advantage of lower prices

The report identified three primary factors shaping travel choices:

  • Affordability (68 percent): Travelers are selecting destinations that offer strong value for money

  • Interest-based travel (42 percent): Many are planning trips centered around passions such as food, sports, and fashion

  • Authenticity (42 percent): There is a strong demand for unique, immersive local experiences
